Accrue Software, Inc. announced its first product in October 1996. Accrue Insight is a software solution that enables organizations to optimize the effectiveness of their online presence by providing the most accurate and comprehensive Web site analysis. Accrue Insight enables Web site managers and marketers to understand the overall effectiveness of their site design, how visitors move through their site, what content is being viewed, and how to evaluate and maximize the effectiveness of online marketing campaigns. This analysis helps managers achieve their business objectives through improved site design.

The latest version of Accrue Insight builds on the strength of the previous version by providing site managers with increased system flexibility and performance. Accrue Insight 2.0 includes increased system extensibility, the openness to handle encrypted transactions, and the ability to track content dynamically generated from a database. It also provides a broader range of reporting capabilities, improved performance, scalability to handle a greater volume of traffic (up to 4 million hits per hour), and expanded exporting functionality. Accrue Insight 2.0 began shipping early 1998.

• Advanced Network-based Data Capture

  Accrue's network-based, "on-the-wire" collector offers extensive information about the actual delivery of information. Also, unlike the retrieval of log files, which slows down server performance, Accrue Insight has no impact on server speed or capacity.

Accrue Insight 2.0 Requirements -

Accrue Insight uses a unique, patent-pending approach to collect transactions from the Web browser client to the Web server. This approach captures or "collects" network traffic live, as it occurs "on the wire". This part of Accrue Insight is called the data collector. The collector captures information and delivers it to a data warehouse, a high performance relational database, where detailed information is stored and later retrieved for presentation in the form of reports.

• Operating System: Accrue Insight can monitor any Web server, running on any platform, eliminating the need to install the software at each server site when multiple sites are being monitored.

• Hardware:

  Data Collector (can be run on your main Web server, or a dedicated system) - A Sun Solaris 2.5/2.5.1/2.6, a 64-bit SGI WebForce Irix 6.4, or Windows NT system

  Data Warehouse - A Sun Solaris 2.5/ 2.5.1/2.6 or 64-bit SGI WebForce Irix 6.4 system

• Memory:

  Data Warehouse - 128MB memory minimum, 256+ memory recommended

  Data Collector - 32MB memory.

• Disk Space: The minimum storage required is 2 gigabytes.
